Cellular Respiration Song

Education Purpose ONLY! Posted by EB(Edgar Barron), and edited

The Cellular Respiration Song (to Hey There Delilah)
Created by Danial Medina, Tiffany McColloch and Justin Ko,
Thanks to whoever they are for putting this on YouTube.

In all your cells you use cellular respiration and it allows you to use
Glucose in all your daily operations, I’ll show you
That although this thing is new, you’ll make it through

Out in the cytoplasm where your cells will start it, in glycolysis the
Glucose will be broken into pyruvate, just repeat, C6H12O6, until it sticks.

(Chorus) sugar goes to ATP, Fuel for birds and you and me
Sugar goes to ATP, Fuel for birds and you and me

Now this pyruvate moves down through the double membrane in the
Mitochondrial Matrix, chain* is broken even further Kreb cycle, gives
Electrons to NAD and FAD
Each turns in the cycle yields 1 ATP however since the chain * is broken it
Must make the cycle twice for each glucose, this will give us 2 ATP, or 4
So far

(Chorus) sugar goes to ATP, Fuel for birds and you and me
Sugar goes to ATP, Fuel for birds and you and me

Carriers take their new charge through the cristae not too far and drop
Them in the electron transport chain. As electrons passes through it
Sparks a proton pump or two and Hs fills the inner membrane space.
Gradient that this creates moves H+ through ATP synthase and
Generate a lot more ATP, for you and me.

(Chorus) sugar goes to ATP, Fuel for birds and you and me
Sugar goes to ATP, Fuel for birds and you and me

In the final step of celluar respiration our cells produce 32 to 34 more
ATP, just realize- glucose fully oxidized**, 38 ATP are synthesized, gives
You energy so you can rise, open your eyes!

(Chorus) sugar goes to ATP, Fuel for birds and you and me
Sugar goes to ATP, Fuel for birds and you and me

NOTE THIS IS NOT A PART OF THE SONG:
*chain here refers to the carbon chain (or backbone) of the glucose
Molecule

**”glucose fully oxidizes” means all carbons of the original glucose
Backbone have been broken apart and release as CO2

A Good "cellular Respiration Lecture" must watch :D i watched it... rewatch and read book follow along with a biolgy book and write notes if you don't get it and try again until you feel confortable with the information, good luck
